Laju Shaparia, first walked down the entrepreneurial path a decade back setting up a home based firm engaged in designing and selling Indian traditional wear like salwaar kurtas, tunics and sarees for the fashion conscious women of today who is looking for something different and yet affordable.

However her creative flair and a heart to do some social work lead her to revive the 700 year old unique craft TANGALIA. One of the well known craft of the Dangasia community, Tangaliya is a craft which is distinctive from others consists of knotting a contrast color thread, along the warp and pushing them together to create the effect of raised dots. Laju now works along with the weavers creating a hand-woven fabric designed as Tunics, Kurtas, Stoles, Shrugs etc. using the COTTON yarn in keeping with our climatic conditions and thereby giving the weavers a life line to improve their standard of living.

Besides Tangalia, Laju is also focused on promoting the six yard wonder garment saree in the Single and Double Ikkat Patola weave. The Patola sarees which have traditionally been woven in Silk is now brought to you in Cotton by Laju. Besides sarees, she also designs Kurta and Dupattas in Patola weave.

Laju also designs and sells daily wear cotton sarees, kurtas and running fabrics with block prints and embroidery. Today Laju showcases her designs at various renowned exhibitions like Secure Giving-Pause for a Cause, Society, Concern India, Rotary Club, Times Gehna, etc besides holding her private exhibitions at Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot and Jamnagar.
